Djimon Hounsou's Ex-Partner Arrested Amid Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Children

Actor Djimon Hounsou is facing a difficult personal situation following the arrest of his ex-partner, Riza Simpson, in Atlanta last week. According to a report from the Atlanta Police Department obtained by the Daily Mail, Hounsou reported in December 2023 that Simpson assaulted him in their shared Atlanta home after he asked her to leave. Their two children, who were reportedly upstairs at the time, may have heard the altercation but were not directly involved. Police subsequently arrested Simpson on January 16, 2024, based on a warrant.

Witnesses observed Simpson through the windows, attempting to mislead officers by claiming she was en route to the residence. Upon opening the door, officers discovered children present and heard crying. Simpson was charged with simple assault and obstruction of authority. Records indicate she was initially held at the Atlanta City Detention Center under the charge of ‘family violence’ and later released on a $500 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 21, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Neither Hounsou nor Simpson have issued public statements regarding the case.

TMZ and Us Weekly were among the first to report the arrest.
